Studies on the Karyotypes of Allium Sativum

Abstract
|
|
|
Present works were carried out for the purpose of investigating the karyotype and morphological characteristics of Allium sativum using 19 Korean local varieties.
The results obtained were as follows :
1. The chromosome number were 2n=16 in all of the varieties.
2. Karyotypes of the above mentioned varieties were classified into three types:
Group A : k=(2n)=16=12v+2j+2j^t
Group B : k=(2n)=16=12v+2v^(cn)+2j^t
Group C : k=(2n)=16=10v+4v^(ts)+2j^t
3. Viewed front morphological and ecological characteristics, these varieties were not classified definitely into several groups.
